Q: Why are so many items sold out/when will “X” product be restocked?
A: All products are made in very small batches, and they sell out very quickly. Restocks occur bimonthly. To find out the dates and times, you can follow me here and here. Please feel free to join our Facebook group where you’ll find updates and be able to vote on what products will be made next. https://www.facebook.com/groups/337746100002222

Q: How much is shipping?
A: My shipping rates are based on what it costs me to ship to you. Weight and location are determining factors in the final cost of shipping.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: International shipping is currently in its beta stage. Multiple international orders do not qualify for combined shipping at this time. Customers are responsible for all duties, taxes, customs, and broker fees that may be assessed on international shipments. Customers assume all responsibility for any of these or other additional fees that may be incurred. We are not responsible for packages that are lost, stolen, or damaged once they have been accepted by USPS. However, all USPS orders are insured for damage incurred by the USPS. Great care will be taken when packaging any order, especially international orders. Please keep in mind, we are not responsible for items that may melt in transit.

Q: Do you combine multiple orders/refund shipping overages.
A: On domestic orders only, I will happily combine all orders placed on the same day as long as all of the information on both orders was entered exactly the same. In regards to shipping overages, I will gladly refund shipping overages if there are any. If you live on the coasts, there will likely not be a refund.

Q: What is your return policy?
A: I accept all returns due to my error or a defective product. Unfortunately, I cannot accept returns unless it falls under one of these two categories. I encourage all customers to thoroughly read the list of ingredients on the website to be sure that there are no allergens listed in the product. There are no refunds for products that you may be allergic to. I encourage all customers to read the list of ingredients and always do a test patch first.

Q: Do you offer free products in return for reviews?
A: Not at this time.

Q: Do you do custom orders?
A: Not at this time.

Q: What happens if my package is lost, stolen, or says “delivered”, but wasn’t?
A: Instances of lost or stolen packages are extremely rare. In the case of lost or stolen packages, once the package has left my local post office, there is little that I can do. I encourage customers to immediately reach out to their local post office. Sometimes packages are marked as delivered, but will show up several days later. Please be patient. If your package is still missing after 5-7 business days, you can file a claim with your post office.

Q: Do you offer travel sizes?
A: Yes. Some restocks are exclusively travel sizes, gift sets often include travel sizes, the advent calendars have travel sizes, and samples/travel sizes are given with almost every order.

Q: Do you have a recycling program?
A: Eco friendly packaging is very important to me. That's why I offer 100% post consumer content containers, compostable containers, glass, aluminum, and even 100% biodegradable containers. Even the boxes you receive your shipments in are 100% recycled as is ALL of the packing material. In addition, I only purchase from suppliers with these same ethics.
However, sometimes I get the question, "Can we ship our empty containers back to you so you can recycle them?" It's a fair question, but if you take into account the amount of resources that is used to ship empty containers back to Iowa, it's simply not efficient and frankly, a poor use of resources. It would take more resources to ship an empty container back than to simply recycle it where you live or even make a new one. Even if that weren't the case, upon arrival, I'd simply take them to my recycling center. You can skip this step and recycle them locally for a much more eco friendly solution. :)
So what can you do?
-Opt for containers that are low waste. Thankfully, I have tons of options and even more to come! Skip the products with plastics and feel free to let me know that's why you aren't buying it. This is a great way for your concerns about plastics to be heard.
- Collect your recyclables and recycle them locally. Easy peasy and the most eco friendly way to deal with plastics.
- Reuse them! Small containers are excellent for storing small trinkets and they make excellent scoops for dog food.
I hope you can tell by my continuous and ongoing effort to incorporate more earth friendly packaging that this is a legitimate concern of mine. In fact, I often feel like The Dirty Goat is ahead of the pack in regards to businesses as small as mine (I'm literally a one woman show here) using such eco friendly packaging. I take pride in that. Not only is the packaging eco friendly, but I'm conscious of our planet behind the scenes as well. I use very very little disposble equipment, all office supplies/papers are 100% recycled material, and even our plastic bags are biodegradable.
Fantastic topic and it honestly warms my heart that it's as important to you as it is to me.
I plan to continue to lead the way by using more and more packaging that is mindful of our environment. I'm happy you're here with me cheering me on while I do it!
We only get one planet!
I hope this helps customers feel at ease knowing I have the same concerns and have researched this topic at length. I'm 100% confident in the packaging choices I make. Thank you for caring about our planet as much as me!
